چکیده

Abstract Based on sensory conflict theory, motion sickness is strongly related to the information processing capacity or resources of brain cope with multi-sensory stimuli experienced by watching virtual reality (VR) content. The purpose this research was develop a method measuring using heart-evoked potential (HEP) phenomenon and propose new indicators for evaluating sickness. Twenty-eight undergraduate volunteers both genders (14 females) participated in study VR content 2D head-mounted devices (HMD) 15 min. responses HEP measures such as alpha power, latency, amplitude first second components were compared paired t-tests ANCOVA. This confirmed that leads decline cognitive processing, demonstrated increasing power HEP. Also, proposed latency waveform showed significant differences during experience exhibited high correlations measures. Latencies component, particular, are recommended better quantitative evaluators than other measures, following multitrait-multimethod matrix. model implemented support vector machine radial basis function kernel, validated twenty participants. accuracy, F1 score, precision, recall, area under curve (AUC) motion-sickness classification results 0.875, 0.865, 0.941, 0.8, 0.962, respectively.

Visual Evoked Potential Using Head-Mounted Display Versus Cathode Ray Tube: A Pilot Study

OBJECTIVE To present a new stimulation method based on the use of a head-mounted display (HMD) during pattern reversal visual evoked potential (PR-VEP) testing and to compare variables of HMD to those of conventional cathode ray tube (CRT). METHODS Twenty-three normal subjects without visual problems were recruited. PR-VEPs were generated using CRT or HMD stimuli. VEP outcome measures include...

Multisensory Integration With a Head-Mounted Display: Background Visual Motion and Sound Motion

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to assess how background visual motion and the relative movement of sound affect a head-mounted display (HMD) wearer's performance at a task requiring integration of auditory and visual information. BACKGROUND HMD users are often mobile. A commercially available speaker in a fixed location delivers auditory information affordably to the HMD user. However, p...

Head-Mounted Display Systems

Real-time three-dimensional (3D) interactive displays refer to display devices servo to the line of sight of a user, allowing not only free head motion, but also potentially and importantly full body mobility. Ideally, one could wish for such capability to exist without the need to wear any view-aided device. However, unless a display system could be created in space, anywhere and anytime, a si...

Visuo-Haptic Display Using Head-mounted Projector

This paper proposes a novel ‘Visuo-Haptic Display’ using a Head-Mounted Projector (HMP) with X’tal Vision optics. Our goal is to develop the device which enables an observer to touch a virtual object just as it is seen. We describe the detail design of an HMP with X’tal Vision, which is very suitable for Augmented Reality. For instance, the HMP makes almost-correct occlusion relationship betwee...
